Legacy Buffalograss

Green Valley Turf Company is proud to grow a grass that uses less water than other turf grasses. Legacy® Buffalograss is available from our fields in Colorado. Legacy® Buffalograss has a slow vertical growth habit and needs less mowing. Today, you can have a beautiful manicured lawn without the constant watering and mowing. Uses 65% less water than tradition turf. Green Valley Turf Co. is the only licensed producer of Legacy® Buffalograss in Colorado.
Less Irrigation
Legacy® has a very low water requirement and a deep root system that grows several feet into the soil. This root system allows it to draw water and nutrients from a larger area. Legacy® thrives on 1/4 inch of water per week or less. It also likes clay soil.
Less Mowing
Buffalograss grows to a maximum height of about 6” and has a slow vertical growth habit. There is no set mowing schedule for Legacy®. For a manicured turf, you will need to mow once every two to three weeks. For a natural look, mow it in the spring and let it go.
Soft Texture & Color, Thick Density
Legacy® has a dark blue-green color and fine blades with soft hairs. Its dense canopy of fine leaf blades create a very soft turf that handles traffic when it is actively growing.
Excels in Full Sun, Very Cold Hardy
Legacy® loves full sun and hard to deal with southern exposures. Legacy® will grow in shade, but it is not as aggressive and needs a half day of sun. Legacy® can withstand cold, dry Colorado winters. Legacy® Buffalograss goes dormant in late September & greens up in mid to late April.
