After removing thin turf from the center of a football field, we spread soil amendments evenly and reverse till with a 10’ Becavator. This mixes in the compost and tills the base to a depth of 9”.  After we have fluffed up the center and introduced air into the area to be sodded, we wheel pack, grade, and sod with big rolls.
