RTF Water Saver
The Only Sod You’ll Ever Need!
Rhizomatous Tall Fescue (RTF®) is an advanced generation of turf-type tall fescue which produces rhizomes. A rhizome is an underground stem that penetrates laterally through the soil to spread the plant. Rhizomes send shoots up to the soil surface while extending new roots downward, forming a new plant. The rhizomatous nature of RTF® is similar to Kentucky bluegrass but RTF® develops a deeper root system and can go longer between watering. Green Valley Turf Co. is the RTF® licensed grower for the Denver/Metro area and the front range.
Strong, deep root system
Ability to draw its moisture from a deep profile. Excellent drought and heat tolerance with less irrigation. Excellent in the transition zone climate
Produces a thick even lawn
Ability to repair itself – repairs open areas within a lawn that produces rhizomes which initiates new grass growth
Quick spring green-up
Early spring green-up – have a greener lawn earlier in the spring
Great Color & Disease resistant
Withstands stressful weather conditions and holds its rich green color, even through winter’s low temperatures
A Better Tall Fescue
Ordinary tall fescues require maintenance from overseeding, weed problems, and clumps. RTF results in less overseeding, fewer weed problems and no "wide leafed ugly clumps" of tall fescue plants in open areas.
Only a licensed RTF® sod grower can issue a RTF® Certificate that insures that you are receiving true RTF® Sod.
